August Updates

Greetings all!  It has been a busy few months at AASCB.  I wanted to send out a correspondence to our member states outlining some of the updates.  Our first update is that on 7/1/2019, the executive committee officers rotated and I started my presidential term.  I am very excited to serve all of our member states over the next year.  We have new initiatives that we will be rolling out through the course of this year.

Our next update is bittersweet.  As some of you know, Mary Alice Olsan has resigned from AASCB as our part-time executive director.  Words will not be able to express how much she will be missed within our organization.  Mary Alice has been involved with AASCB since 2011 and served in various leadership roles since 2012.  Anyone who met her knows how passionate she is about the counseling profession and licensure.  On behalf of AASCB, we wish Mary Alice the absolute best moving forward but we know she will not need that to be successful!

Our executive committee acted swiftly in concert with our managing firm CCE to identify several candidates for our executive director role.  We wanted individuals who would not just function as an interim director but someone who could step in and assume full leadership responsibilities.  We also wanted the new person to have some overlap time with Mary Alice for information handoff and a smooth transition.

With all that said, I am pleased to announce that Jolie Long is AASCB’s new Executive Director.  Jolie has worked with NBCC for many years and will continue in her roles with NBCC but also will assume our part-time executive director position.   We were fortunate enough to vote Jolie in before Mary Alice’s last day so they were able to meet several times during the transition.  Jolie’s values and vision align with AASCB’s and we are confident she will do an excellent job serving our member states.

Lastly, we are gearing up for our Summit in just about one week!  I can not believe how quickly this year has flown by.  We are excited to be offering this conference in partnership with NBCC and CCE.  We will be holding true to many parts of our conference including the business meetings, several AASCB workshops, and ensuring a focus on regulatory excellence.  I look forward to seeing everyone next week at the Summit!!
