California Has Become The 50th State to License Counselors

After almost eight years of work and three bills, the California Coalition for Counselor Licensure (CCCL) is happy to announce that the law that will regulate Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors in California took effect January 1, 2010. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences now has a year to adopt rules and regulations. Applications for grandfathering, reciprocity and registration of interns will be accepted beginning January 1, 2011. The grandfathering period is from January 1 - June 30, 2011. Regular licensure will begin January 1, 2012.

For more information, including requirements, please visit the CCCL website. A presentation by the President of CCCL is posted with the 2010 AASCB conference proceedings.
